Why I Don’t Make Medical Claims About My Soaps
Share
You may have seen soapmakers make claims like “heals acne” or “cures eczema” or even "brightens dark spots", but you won’t find that here. Here’s why:
1️⃣ It’s Not Permitted: Most handmade soapmakers, including myself, are not regulated by the FDA, meaning we cannot—and should not—market soaps as treatments for medical conditions.
2️⃣ The Science is Unclear: During the saponification process, many ingredients are chemically transformed. We simply don’t know which active properties survive, making it impossible to guarantee medicinal effects.
3️⃣ Soap is a Wash-Off Product: Soap only stays on your skin for a short time, so it doesn’t have the opportunity to act as a treatment.
At the end of the day, soap is a surfactant—it’s designed to do what it’s intended to do: grab dirt and oil and wash it away, leaving your skin fresh and clean.
What I promise is a bar of soap that’s long-lasting, creates a creamy lather, and leaves your skin feeling clean and comfortable—not tight or dry. No gimmicks, just quality you can trust. 🌿
